UNIVERSITY OF DENVER
GRADUATE SCHOOL OF SOCIAL WORK
Founded in 1931, GSSW is the oldest professional
school of social work in the Rocky Mountain Region. We are the
only graduate school founded by the National Association of Social
Workers (NASW), and our U.S. News and World Report 2000
national ranking places GSSW in the top third. Our friendly campus
is located in the heart of a major metropolitan area, offering
more than 400 field placement choices, yet we are just 30 minutes
from mountain recreation like skiing, snowboarding and hiking.
Our MSW program, accredited by the Council
on Social Work Education, offers both clinical and community
practice concentrations. Clinical concentration specialties include
child welfare, families, high-risk youth and adults. Specialized
academic certificates are offered in Couples and Family Therapy,
Social Work with Latinos/as, and Trauma Response and Recovery.
Dual degree programs are available with international studies,
human communication, law, theology or a program selected by the
student. Summer/fall advanced standing entry, part-time and some
weekend/evening classes are available. Both need-based and merit-based
financial aid is available to MSW students.
Our PhD program emphasizes child welfare,
high-risk youth, mental health and gerontology. Outstanding doctoral
students may be eligible for two-year graduate assistantships
that include full-tuition and a nine-month stipend.
